Prepare your move

Before moving day

Arrange to have the following services cancelled or disconnected :

  • Garbage
  • Gas company
  • Milk delivery
  • Bakery delivery
  • Laundry service
  • Electric company
  • Telephone company
  • Internet company
  • Oil or fuel company
  • Water supply source
  • Banks accounts
  • Newspaper and magazine delivery

Arrange to transfer the following records and notify change of address :

  • Banks
  • Doctors
  • Dentist
  • Schools
  • Church
  • Driver's license
  • Insurance companies
  • Relatives and friends
  • Magazine and newspaper subscriptions
  • Car registration
  • Clubs and organizations
  • Credit card companies
  • Legal document (e.g. wills, deeds, contracts and birth certificates)

Arrange to take currency, jewelry, the contents of your safety deposit box and all other valuable personal possessions along with you.

Check with the local Consular Office of the country where you are immigrating or moving with regards to special regulations, vaccination and other health requirements.

Moving day

Try to pre-pack your non fragile items such as clothes, books, bed sheets, kitchen utensils and personal documents in well-marked cartons before the movers arrive at your residence.

Our employees are well trained and make every effort to ensure safety during the move. However, it is always advisable to make sure you supervise your children at all times while furniture and heavy objects are being moved.

Light, easily prepared meals are recommended on moving day.

Moving day is sometimes stressful for your family and it is our job to make this experience as smooth as possible with your cooperation.

Please ensure that all luggage and travel documents required for travelling are kept in your possession and not included with the rest of your household goods.

The team leader is responsible for the supervision of your removal. If you have any questions, suggestions or recommendations, please communicate with him/her.

You will be asked to sign a physical inventory of your goods as a receipt, one copy of which will be left with you. Please read it carefully and do not hesitate to request further clarification at any point with our team leader.

When you arrive overseas

Please contact our Office/Agent at destination and advise them of your new or temporary address in order to avoid delays and keep you updated on the status of your shipment.

Please ensure your immigration papers and passport are in order and with you when you arrive. You will need to contact the Destination Agent as soon as you arrive to obtain further information about your shipment, the customs clearance formalities and delivery instructions.

Your Destination Agent will gladly assist you in any way possible to establish contact with necessary services in your new city and make your family as comfortable as possible during these first days.

When you take delivery

Our Destination Office/Agent will assist you in clearing your goods through customs.

They will deliver, unload, unpack and set-up your household goods and furniture in your new residence.

They will remove the container, debris and packing materials on the day of delivery when the job has been completed.

When your shipment arrives, please check each item as it is brought into your residence against your copy of the inventory. If something is missing or damaged, please be sure that the driver notes these comments on the inventory list. After the unloading has been completed you will be asked to sign the inventory list. Your signature certifies that all your goods arrived in the same condition as they were loaded with the exception of any notations as described above.

Should it become impractical to unpack all of your effects on the first call owing to lack of space, for example, contact the Destination Agent, who will make the necessary arrangements for the satisfactory completion of your move. There may be an additional fee.

Should there be any basis for a claim, it is necessary that you submit your claim in writing to us within 7 days of delivery of your household goods. The claim form can be obtained by contacting our office. No action can be taken until such time as the form is fully completed and returned to us.
